1: Clarification regarding deduction in respect of contribution to pension scheme under Section 80 CCD
A number of representations have been received regarding deduction under Section 80 CCD for contribution made under pension scheme in the light of Circular No-1 /2010 dated 11th Jan’2010 issued on the subject of Deduction of Tax at Source etc.
2: Travelling Allowance to Central Government servants on retirement
The travellingallowance referred to will be admissible in respect of the journey of the Governmentservant and members of his family from the last station of his duty to his home town or tothe place where he and his family is to settle down permanently even if it is other thanhis declared home town and in respect of the transportation of his personal effectsbetween the same places.
3: Engagement of Retired Railway Employees on daily remuneration basis
The issue of revision of rates of Daily Allowance for engagement of retired employees on daily remuneration basis has been engaging the attention of the Board. It has now been decided by the Ministry of Railways that the following rates of daily allowance will be effective from the date of issue of the sanction.
4: 30 % Pay element on Dearness Pay from 01/04/04-31/12/05 retirees of running staff
Calculating of pension with 30% pay element on 50% Dearness Pay merged on 01/04/04 of running staff retired between 01/04/04 to 31/12/05 as has been allowed to the serving employees while fixing their Pay under the SCPC recommendation vide RBE letter dated 12/09/2008.
5: DA in 6th CPC
6th CPC pension fitment benefit given to the past pensioners is equal to 40% but the table is showing 2.5 % extra to 40 % may be DA on 01/01/06 was increased by 3 %. Further DA increased by 6 % fro

7: FACILITIES and BENEFITS GIVEN TO SENIOR CITIZENS BY DIFFERENT MINISTRIES or DEPARTMENTS
The National Policy aims to strengthen their legitimate place in the society and to help older people to live the last phase of their life with purpose, dignity and peace. The National Policy on Older Persons inter alia visualizes support for financial security, health care and nutrition, shelter, emphasis upon education, training and information needs, provision of appropriate concessions, rebates and discounts etc. to Senior Citizens and special attention to protect and strengthen their legal rights such as to safeguard their life and property.
8: Guidelines for Pensioners
Ensure to submit your claims in the prescribed proforma for grant of pension/gratuity/commutation/revision to your Head of Office well in advance so that the Pension Payment Order (PPO) reaches you through your Head of Office before your retirement. Remember that the processing, verification and authorization of these claims may involve several levels and one or more offices which require sufficient time and effort to be accurate.
9: Grant of Permission for Commercial Employment after Retirement
With a view to ensuring expeditious consideration of such requests from retired officers for taking up post-retirement commercial employment, Ministries/Departments may initiate examination of such requests at the level of SO/DO.
